Going Green Self Help tips

These days, you really do feel how erratic the weather patterns can be. Scientists refer to this phenomenon as global warming.

This simply means that there is now more carbon dioxide in the atmosphere due to the burning of fossil fuels such as coal, gas, and oil.

Moreover, people have been cutting down trees and this makes things even worse.

Pollution has caused global warming and now everyone has to deal with the rising heat that could eventually destroy the environment.

But don’t feel like it’s the end of the world.

You still can do your part in helping Mother Earth cool down.

First of all, you must know that there are no longer enough trees to offset the collective carbon dioxide that comes from the surroundings.

The excess ends up clogging up the atmosphere and trapping the heat of the sun. This is what has made the weather go haywire.

You see, as the earth gets warmer, glaciers melt and oceans heat up. Water expands as it warms, so as the oceans are heated, the water they contain takes up more volume leading to the rise in sea levels.

Experts actually say that a rise by a mere two-degree centigrade can be deadly.

Right now, people need to greatly reduce their CO2 consumption. So who’s exactly to blame? You just can’t point the finger in big industries and corporations.

Your lifestyle has something to do with it as well.

And just as every person is responsible for the environmental woes, you all can make moves to start healing the world.

Lighten up on your use of electricity. Use energy-saving lamps around your home because while they provide the same quality of light, they won’t need as much electricity.

The less of this you use, the less the power plant has to produce.

Mind the watts when you buy appliances and go for those that use less. There’s no need to learn complicated math here.

Just research on the net to find out which of your appliances are power-hungry. C

onsider using Solar Power for Homes as these solar power systems are much more affordable than they ever were in the past.

Of course, go easy on the usage of paper as well. Think twice about printing documents. When possible, use the back of a used piece of paper for short notes and memos.

As you know, paper comes from trees. The law of supply and demand applies here as well. The more you buy them, the more the manufacturers will produce the product.

During the day, open your windows and let the sunshine in. Try not to use your air conditioner too often.

Aside from making your power bill rise, it has refrigerants such as fluorocarbons. These suck out the heat from the room and release it into the atmosphere. Use a fan when you can.

Besides, you could actually let fresh air in and have it circulate around your room. This is actually healthier for you.

Moreover, organize the garbage in your house and segregate them.

If you’ve already done this and separated the biodegradable stuff from the non-biodegradable ones, it’ll be so much easier for the recyclers to find out which one is which.
