How to Reduce the Entertainment Budget and Still Have a Good Time

With the economy in its current condition, many families have found themselves having to cut back on the amount of money they spend on entertainment.

You may be considering this option but are concerned that life will be “boring” if you cut the entertainment fund from your budget.

The good news is that it’s possible to still have fun together while cutting your entertainment budget.

Here’s how:

1. Watch movies at home.

You don’t have to go to the theater anymore to watch the latest movies.

Now, you can get instant movies directly at home for a small monthly fee from one of the many home movie providers.

You can also save on pizza for your in-home movie nights by making your own pizza!

2. Go hiking.

If you and your family enjoy the great outdoors, then spend a weekend hiking along a nearby hiking trail.

If hiking isn’t your thing, then why not go biking?

These are both very inexpensive activities that are enjoyable for people of all ages.

3. Host a sports party.

If you enjoy watching televised sports, then consider hosting a sports party.

Invite your friends and let the kids invite some of their friends too.

Ask everyone to bring their favorite dish/snack (while you provide the drinks) to ensure everyone has a great time!

4. Break out the board games.

We all have a stash of old board games that we haven’t played in forever.

After all, we’ve got a lot of other entertainment options now, right?

However, if you’re trying to cut back on entertainment spending, then breaking out the old board games for a family game night is the perfect solution!

If you have enough money, then you may want to kick the night off by going to a nearby store and picking out a new game together as a family.

5. Attend community events/activities.

Don’t be one of those families who doesn’t attend their community’s activities/events.

These are often free or cost very little to attend and provide a great deal of entertainment.

A few interesting community events you could attend include: annual festivals, parades, charity walks, town-wide garage/rummage sales and pancake dinners.

6. Brainstorms new ideas together.

When it seems like you’re running out of ideas for how to have fun for an affordable price, sit down as a family and brainstorm new ideas together.

This in itself is an activity that can be fun as you will most likely get in lively conversations about one another’s ideas.

Plus, you’ll end up with a list of new ideas!

You are a life Saver!!

I recently discovered this site and I can tell you that my life has not been the same. I now come here EVERYDAY and spend at least 1 hour.

I used to spend that time browsing online fashion and beauty magazine which just means that I spend more. Now I have replaced that habit with coming here.

In future I will think about contributing articles as well. Thank you! Thank you!! Thank you!!! and God bless"
