Share Your Goals With Your Partner

You have met a person you want to build a long-lasting relationship with. Things are glorious at the moment; you are happy and feeling full of life and spirit. You envision your dream life unfolding before you.

It may be a life with lots of pets because you plan to live out in the country where you and your significant other can work together in the garden.

Or maybe you are thinking about a city life where you and your partner can easily walk to restaurants and trendy shops.

But the ironic thing is that you and your new love have not discussed life plans and goals.

You may find that when you bring this topic up he or she has totally different ideas of what would make a wonderful life.

Although it is not necessary or even suggested that you have these conversations on a first date, it is recommended that once you and your partner make long-term plans together you talk about such things.

It is important to know how you each feel about things such as children, housing, education, plus lots of other things.

Let us talk briefly about children. If you simply do not want to be a parent you should make that known. On the other hand, if having children is essential to making your life complete then your partner should know that.

Perhaps you both want children but one of you feels that parents should be very strict and authoritarian and the other feels that a parent should be a friend first and offer understanding before rules.

I am sure you can see that those differences could present problems later in life. I am not saying that you need to discuss every small detail about each and every thing that may come along in your life as a couple.

But I am suggesting that these things are important and they can provide a springboard for long and interesting discussions.

After all, the more you know about your partner the easier it is to understand his or her actions and motives. In all likelihood you will find that the two of you have similar ideas about what would be a great life.

But if you do not you may decide that a long-term relationship with this person may not work out. A friendship may be better than a couple-style relationship.

Find out the common goals you have. Then you can work together to achieve them.

Having a partner will make the challenge more fun and interesting. Perhaps the two of you like to travel. If so you could plan a dream trip and make it a goal to travel to that destination.

By setting goals and making the plans and sacrifices to achieve them you will build a unity. This bond will strengthen your friendship and your relationship will be better for it.

You are a life Saver!!

I recently discovered this site and I can tell you that my life has not been the same. I now come here EVERYDAY and spend at least 1 hour.

I used to spend that time browsing online fashion and beauty magazine which just means that I spend more. Now I have replaced that habit with coming here.

In future I will think about contributing articles as well. Thank you! Thank you!! Thank you!!! and God bless"
