Tips To Consider When Choosing Your Affiliate Marketing Campaign

Affiliate marketing has become more competitive over the last few years, but still has not lost its appeal. There are literally hundreds of programs to choose from today. As an affiliate, the question is how do you choose the best one for your marketing needs?

The first consideration you need to think about is picking a good product that you have an interest in. If you are trying to promote a product that you have no interest in or do not feel passionate about you are likely to give up fairly quickly. Remember that you will be spending a good amount of time looking at this product, and perhaps even talking about it as you promote it.

Just as you should be interested in the product, you need to choose something that other people will be interested in as well. You need to do your research to find if there is a demand for what you want to promote. Using a keyword tool to help you identify what is being searched for the most in the volume of the searches is very important.

This will not only show you a basic level of competition for that word, but also show you the amount of demand of the search volume. If a word has very high competition but a very low search volume, you may want to pass on the product. However, if the search volume stays consistently high in the competition seems to be very low, it may be the perfect product to promote.

Once you have determined which affiliate program or product that you are interested in, that there is fairly good demand for it, and that you will be able to compete in the market, you need to take a look at the merchants website that is with the program or product.

Is the website easy to navigate and user-friendly? Does the site present a clear message with clear calls to action? Are the products and images shown clearly so the customer knows exactly what they are purchasing?

Also very important to consider is that if the affiliate website contains any leaks. These are links or paths that lead away from the website. These links could lead to anything from another website, a toll-free number, or another program.

This will in turn result in zero conversions for you because traffic has left your site. Keep in mind that if you are going to be promoting or representing someone else’s website, you want to be sure that it is reputable, good, and has strong potential for performance-based sales.

The next big factor would be considering your conversion rate. These numbers are extremely important when you are choosing an affiliate program. If the product or advertiser you are presenting offers a high commission, but their website just does not convert, you will not make any money promoting it will be wasting your time. Factoring in the amount of people out of 100 who complete a desired action configures conversion rates.

Affiliate marketing has a great potential to provide you a very good income. You just need to take a time in researching and choosing the best product for you to provide.

How to Use Social Media in Your Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate marketing is a great way to make a living. Today there are literally hundreds of thousand of people who are able to support themselves while working from home on their computers! Many have developed successful strategies for setting up websites that offer products that not only sell well but offer generous commissions.

Today many successful marketers have discovered that using social media has added new profits to their businesses. How do they use social media in their affiliate marketing?

To understand better, you must appreciate that social media has taken the world of affiliate marketing by storm because of the viral way that it spreads messages, videos and photos out over the web. It is amazing to watch a video on YouTube only to discover that you are just one of over a million people who have viewed it! How can this viral effect be leveraged into an affiliate marketing business?

One way is by understanding what types of items tend to get passed on most frequently. For instance if you watch a video of a professor explaining why gasoline is more efficient with ethanol that without, would you pass it on to your friends? Would you attach a note that says “Hey guys, here's a video you are really going to enjoy!” Not likely. Both the subject and presentation are boring. The video didn't make you laugh, cry, or have any kind of emotional reaction whatsoever.

On the other hand, what if you were sent a video of a cute little puppy that was trying to climb over the side of his playpen. Let's say it's a little basset hound and he keeps tripping on his long ears and falling back down --- only to persistently get up and try again. Maybe in the background the theme from “Rocky” is playing and as it builds to a crescendo the music fits perfectly with each new effort of the determined little pup. Would you send it on? Sure you would! And so would the friends you send it to!

Now if you could develop a video that is as entertaining and as emotional as a little puppy trying to climb out of his playpen, then your video could become a viral sensation, too. And if you could attach your link at the end of the video, do you think it would send traffic to your sight? Absolutely!

YouTube is just one of the social media sites that successful affiliate marketers have tapped into. There are also gigantic sites like Twitter, Facebook and Pinterest that offer similar opportunities to send out messages that will go viral. It just takes some careful thought and planning.

A word of caution is in order, however. You cannot spam these sites or overtly sell on them. You need to use social sites as they were intended. If you can create fun and entertaining messages to post, then these social sites will serve your business well. Spamming them will only turn people off and may even get you banned.

If you are an affiliate marketer not yet using these wonderful social sites, then it is time you get started. They will help tremendously in getting traffic to your websites.
