What to Look for in a Quality Preschool Program

If you are getting ready to send your child to preschool, you may be on the hunt for a quality preschool program. With so many options available, you may be wondering how to make the best decision for you and most importantly, your child.

Read on to find out what to look for in a quality preschool program.

The People.

The people are among one of the first things that you should assess when trying to find a quality preschool program.

The people include the staff, such as the director, the teachers, the assistants and anyone else who will be working with or in contact with the children.

Watch how the staff interacts with children and look to see how children react to the staff.

The director should be organized and able to effectively handle any difficulties that arise. Ask if the teachers are certified and what their qualifications are.

A quality program will have teachers that have a degree in early childhood education, as well as some experience.

The Program.

When looking for a quality preschool program, you will also want to assess the program itself.

In other words, you will want to have an understanding of what it is that your child will be learning and how he or she will be learning it.

Ask what academic skills are covered; basics include literacy, mathematics, discovery and exploration, dramatic play and fine and gross motor development, as well as arts and crafts.

You will also want to know how each of these academic areas are taught.

Many programs offer opportunities for learning in small groups, large groups or in small, independent learning centers – and many programs combine all of these approaches to teaching.

You will also want to find out how the preschool handles any sort of difficulties that arise, such as behavioral problems, separation anxiety, as well as injuries and sickness.

The Center.

The last thing you will want to assess when selecting a quality preschool program for your child is the center.

You will want to make sure that the center is clean, fully stocked with educational toys and products, is safe and secure and that it is bright and welcoming.

You’ll also want to check to make sure that there is an easily accessible restroom and sink, that there is a quite area where kids can enjoy down time and that there are spaces where different activities can effectively occur (an art corner, a block area, a dramatic play area, etc.)

I recently discovered this site and I can tell you that my life has not been the same. I now come here EVERYDAY and spend at least 1 hour.

I used to spend that time browsing online fashion and beauty magazine which just means that I spend more. Now I have replaced that habit with coming here.

In future I will think about contributing articles as well. Thank you! Thank you!! Thank you!!! and God bless"
