Well, we are in the last quarter of the year - Q4 - and I think I can safely say that very little of what happened so far this year was on any of our plans for what we thought we would be doing and achieving.

It seems to be one rolling disaster into another, without time to catch your breath or achieve any equilibrium. We began with the whole country on fire in Australia... it burned for months and we lived in a yellow ash haze.

Then we had floods and storms (and earthquakes in neighbouring NZ) and we thought that was enough.

Then we had CV19 and wondered how long that would take to clear up, fully expecting pretty much the same results as with swine flu / bird flu / etc etc. which were dealt with in a few months.

Yet here we are 10 months later, still reeling from one crisis after another, and CV19 having second and third waves of infections world wide.

It feels like it will never end to us in Victoria as we have been in lockdown for a couple of months now, and life definitely does NOT feel normal any longer here.

I know that my energy and optimism has been sapped lower than I've experienced in many years. I am being super vigilant with what I am eating and drinking, to ensure that my health and weight are the best I can achieve under the circumstances.

Depression can be hard to fight off at times, and lack of energy often translates into depression, so be aware of that possibility when you feel your energy levels flagging.

This month I'm adding to the tips I shared last month. Lets work to keep those energy levels up, and keep as optimistic as we can. Life will begin feeling happier soon. In Australia we are in spring, my gardening is making me happy as I anticipate my fruit and vegetable harvests, and the sun feels wonderful.

"5 Ways to Improve Your Energy Now"


Many men and women of all ages become drained of energy with aging and stress from work. Most energy-gaining techniques take weeks or months to see progress.

Because of this, if you’re busy and completely exhausted, you’ll probably tell yourself that you’ll recover later because it won’t even be worth it to start trying to gain your energy back if you won’t see instant results.

However, there are a few ways that you can instantly gain your energy back without waiting. These five easy methods will help you see immediate results and will contribute to a healthier, better life.

Change the Lighting

Sometimes you might want to decrease the amount of light around you to try to prevent eye strain or headaches. While being in darker lighting is good for those reasons, it can lead to fatigue.

Darkness is essential for sleeping. Because of this, your body naturally associates being in a dark room with sleeping. This will cause your body to start becoming tired and start producing melatonin, the hormone that makes you sleepy.

If you’re trying to work in a dark room, you’ll become less focused because your body is telling you that you should be sleeping, not working. Try surrounding yourself with light. Light will help you become more energized because it will wake you up instead of making you tired.

Refrain from getting LED lights and fluorescent lights, because they do more harm than good when it comes to energy. Both types of lights are deficient in the wavelengths that are in the sunlight, which your body is already adapted to.

These lights are often a blueish tone. Blue light is damaging to your eyesight, as well as your energy, because it stifles your ability to produce melatonin at night. This will decrease the amount of sleep you get, which will cause you to have no energy during the day.

Instead, you should try to limit your light sources to natural sunlight and incandescent lights. Incandescent lights aren’t damaging to your body, because they replicate sunlight and aren’t only compiled of blue light.

Natural sunlight is great because our bodies have been used to it since the beginning of life, so it definitely will not decrease your energy levels.

It can also help you sleep easier, because once the sun goes down and your room at home is dark, you’ll start becoming tired - whereas if you keep lights on all night, you might mess up your sleep cycle.

You may work in a place where you’re exposed to blue light constantly, and you can’t change it. Try opening windows or going outside to increase your intake of sunlight. If you can’t do either of those, purchase some blue light glasses.

These types of glasses filter out any unhealthy blue light that you’re exposed to, saving you from losing sleep and suffering from eye strain. Increase your energy by not letting yourself stay in a dark environment all day.

Immerse yourself in light - just not the unhealthy kind. Decrease exposure to blue light as much as possible to refrain from straining your eyes and disrupting your melatonin production.

Have an Acupuncture Session

Pain and negativity are both things that can often unknowingly drain your energy. Constantly being in pain will cause you to become physically stressed and tense, using energy from your muscles.

Being surrounded by constant negative energy will also drain you because it will cause your mood to worsen, as well as your mental health and wellbeing. You should have an acupuncture session in order to rid yourself of these things that are dragging your energy down.

If you’re unaware of what an acupuncture session is, it’s a traditional Chinese medical procedure that involves fine, slim needles being stuck into the skin.

It may sound painful because of the involvement of needles, however they’re so thin that the needles will most likely not hurt you at all.

Acupuncture is said to have multiple beneficial effects on your body, including helping the immune, nervous, endocrine, cardiovascular, and digestive systems. Because of this, acupuncture helps resolve pain that you may be experiencing due to issues in any of these systems.

Its benefits and boosts to the immune system will also help ensure that you don’t get sick as often, which could be another source of your energy drain.

On top of alleviating pain, it can also raise the production of serotonin, which is one of the chemicals that helps you sleep well.

Sleep is extremely beneficial to your energy levels, and it’s important to not be in pain while sleeping as well as producing enough sleep chemicals to get you through the night without constantly waking up due to disruptions.

There are also certain acupuncture points that relieve stress, anxious energy, and specific pain points. It also modifies your body’s hormones in order to improve the brain’s energy and mood, which will help decrease negative energy and the physical energy loss that comes along with it.

Talk to your acupuncturist about what kind of symptoms you’re having - energy loss, stress, sadness, anxiety, and any physical pain you may be experiencing.

Ask them to modify the session to your needs so that you’ll be left feeling energized, pain free, and separated from any negative energy you were dealing with before you came in.

Acupuncture is a great, pain free way to eliminate negativity and relieve pain in your body to keep it from increasing production of beneficial hormones and stimulating your body’s main systems.

There are many different acupuncture points that will benefit your personal needs and leave you feeling more energized overall.

Get a Massage

Self-care is one of the most important things for you to do in order to remain stress-free. Getting a relaxing massage is a very common form of self-care, but many people don’t know that it can actually boost your energy, not just relax you.

One great aspect of getting a massage is the environment you’ll be in. You’ll be forced to slow down and live in the moment, and you’ll be in a place where you can put off thinking about stressful things such as work, chores, etc.

All you have to do is relax. This will help slow your mind and make you feel less stressed out, which will help you gain energy. Stress is a huge cause of energy loss for many people.

Your mental health will also improve, because massages lower your anxiety levels. They also raise endorphins, which are the natural chemicals in your body that cause you to feel good and be happy.

This will help improve your energy as well, because being in a negative state of mind is just as draining as physical unwellness. Massages, along with mental stress, relieve physical stress as well.

Massages are done specifically to relieve tense muscles that usually come with large amounts of stress. This will rid you of any physical pain you may have been dealing with due to stress, and your muscles will stop using up so much of your energy from being constantly tensed up.

Your sleep cycle will also improve when you get a massage. Since your muscles will be healed of physical stress and pain, you won’t have to try to get to sleep while being disrupted by constant agony.

They also increase the production of serotonin and melatonin, which play a huge role in helping you sleep all night without being woken up due to stress or pain. You will most likely feel sleepy right after your massage, but you will be more energized than ever once you wake up.

Massages will also help improve your circulation. This is necessary for the proper distribution of oxygen to your body’s cells.

If oxygen can’t get through to all of your cells, they will not be able to produce a sustainable amount of energy for your body to feed off of.

Getting a massage is a great way for you to take care of your body and relieve any mental or physical stress that is ruining your energy levels. Massages will help you relax and leave all of your energy-draining pain and stress behind.

Practice Meditation

Meditation is a commonly used form of relaxation and self-care that is practiced for the purpose of clearing the mind and helping you come to a calm, relaxed mental and physical state.

If used regularly, it will have significant beneficial effects on your energy levels. There are many different ways to meditate.

You can use an audio recording, an online video, or a meditation app to help you reach your ideal level of relaxation.

There are also many different kinds, like Zen, Mantra, Yoga, Vipassana, Chakra, Qigong, and sound bath meditations, so you’ll surely be able to find what works for you.

Just experiment with different forms of meditating and see which is the most beneficial type for you.

Meditating will boost your energy levels, not just your relaxation and calmness. Meditation is also a form of stress relief, and constant stress is a huge cause of energy drainage.

Practicing meditation releases endorphins, which ease and lessen pain and anxiety. Pain and anxiety cause energy loss due to them causing increased stress on the body.

Endorphins also increase happiness, and being in a positive mindset is another rich source of energy.

It will also help clear your mind of stressful thoughts you may have been having. Your mental health is just as important as your physical health, especially when it comes to energy loss.

Many people don’t usually realize that being stressed due to negative thoughts can cause just as much harm to your body and energy as physical stress - like pain and tired muscles.

You may be stressed out because you’re overwhelmed by work or personal obligations and plans that you’ve made. Meditation will help you calm your mind and will keep you from having a million thoughts and reminders running through your head constantly.

One of the many good things about meditation is that it can be practiced just about anywhere - the office, your home, a plane, etc. You also don’t have to put multiple hours aside to get in a good session in.

Another form of meditation that will immediately boost your energy is visualization. Visualization is a way to engage your mind and creativity into meditation.

It’s pretty simple and it will further enhance your meditation experience, bringing you more relaxation, calmness, and energy.

All you have to do is think of an image or an idea. It’s very common for people to imagine they are somewhere they want to be - usually a relaxing vacation spot like the beach or a cabin in the mountains.

Using this technique will help your experience with meditation be more enjoyable, and it will also help you not lose focus as easy. Meditation is one of the best ways to relax your body and mind, replenishing them both with copious amounts of newly found energy.

Find a technique that works for you and benefits your needs most. Use guided meditation through an audio if needed, or simply clear your mind and focus on your breathing.

Have Social Outlets

Working hard all day, every day with no breaks or time to yourself will drain your energy over time. Most people put off the thought of having some fun, because it can feel overwhelming to try to plan things that still work with your schedule.

However, it’s important to give your mind some breaks and enjoy social outings with no guilt attached. Your mind needs time to be social and have fun to properly function.

If you’re cooped up at home or in your office all day, with little to no enjoyable interactions, your mental health will quickly go down the drain.

You can develop depression and anxiety, which both cause your energy to drain because of constant stress and lack of endorphins.

Going out with your friends will release endorphins, make you excited, and relieve stress, boosting your energy levels.

A few fun-filled activities you could do include going out to eat, going bowling, watching a sports game, watching a happy or funny movie, travelling, shopping, and even just hanging out with each other at your (or their) house.

When you’re choosing somewhere to go, if you’re trying to boost your energy, don’t choose to do anything sad. Don’t watch a sad movie or go to a depressing museum.

Do something that makes you all happy, and if you want extra energy you could do something like a workout or yoga class with them.

Having social outlets can also help you when you’re feeling more emotional than normal. If you’re having a really rough week but you don’t have a therapist or any friends or family to talk to, not having someone could make your problems worse.

Also, when you’re feeling happy and optimistic, being lonely and not having anyone to share those moments with could lead you to sadness. Being social can also boost your immune system.

If you have no socialization, your immune system won’t get used to being exposed to illnesses. Therefore, once you do get exposed, your immune system will be extremely weak and it won’t be able to handle being ill.

Your body will have to use up a lot more energy in order to make up for the damage done due to your immune system being weak. But if you’re constantly around people, your immune system will strengthen and become used to common illnesses.

When people reject plans with their friends or family, it’s usually because they don’t want to feel unproductive and they’d rather do work to feel like they’ve accomplished more.

But for your physical and mental health, you shouldn’t feel bad about taking time away from your job to enjoy life. It’s part of making sure you can continue to show up and be productive when you need to.

Gaining optimal energy in your life is something that takes time, but you do have some quick fix options to help give you a temporary boost that can help you enjoy life and have more personal satisfaction overall.

The key for anyone to achieve more energy whenever they feel it’s waning is to find methods that work best for your personal preferences and needs. Some people may need more sleep, while you get plenty.

You might respond great to meditation, while others feel antsy doing it. Absorb all of the information you can about the options you have and then put each one to the test to see if it benefits you.

You’ll want to have a variety of energy booster readily available so that you’re able to have it when you need it most, rather than being sidelined because you’re feeling hopeless and lethargic.

Brain Fog Is a Sign That Your Hormones May Be Out of Whack

Brain fog is a condition that’s defined as a state in which a person finds himself unable to concentrate, is irritable, tired, and with a generalized sensation that something’s not right.

Women who go through this describe the feeling as outside of their normal. If you don’t know about hormone imbalance issues, it can be difficult to make the connection between the brain fog and hormones as the problem.

Most people who have experienced trouble with their hormones understand something is going on but they’re not sure what the root cause could be. It could be caused by your hormones being imbalanced because when the levels are too high or too low, it can cause brain fog.

The condition can also cause agitation. Some common symptoms of brain fog associated with a hormone imbalance include feeling too tired to engage in normal activities, unexplained anger or other emotions, difficulty thinking things through, inability to recall certain events, headaches, and insomnia.

If the underlying cause of brain fog isn’t treated, it can lead to anxiety and even depression. While a mild hormonal imbalance won’t show any symptoms at first, as the imbalance continues, it will - because your hormones regulate everything from your physical health to your emotional health.

Several hormones work together to keep your mind clear and prevent brain fog. If even one of them isn’t within normal levels, it creates an impact on your ability to mentally function.

Cortisol is one of these hormones that can wreak havoc on cognitive abilities, but serotonin is also a factor - as is dopamine. When these hormones aren’t working well, you become sluggish, sad and stay in a state of emotional upheaval.

These hormones need unity among their levels. Some people believe that when one hormone fails to maintain a healthy level that the other hormones will kick in and pick up the slack, but this isn’t true.

When one hormone gets out of balance, it creates a domino effect and the other hormones will follow suit. If you’re someone who lives with a lot of stress, this can cause a cortisol imbalance.

That affects dopamine and serotonin as well as other hormones. If you’re experiencing brain fog and you know you’ve been dealing with stress lately, then you’re going to want to get your cortisol level tested.

In addition to cortisol causing brain fog, other hormones that can cause this condition include ones produced by your thyroid as well as your adrenals.

Once testing is done - if it shows that there’s a hormonal imbalance - treatment is available that can restore your body to its healthy levels.

"You Can’t Miss These Acne Scar Removing Tips "

When you talk to your dermatologist, they will give you a whole list of options to consider for acne scarring. The list is long and can be overwhelming.

Here, we've tried to narrow down that list a bit and give you some specific information on the different types of treatment available and what is going to work and what isn't.

1. Cytotoxic Injection – It sounds scary, but it’s not. Something called Fluoruoracil, a cancer drug, or bleomycin, an anti-bacterial drug, is injected into your Hypotrophic scar to encourage the reduction of raised materials.

Steroids are often combined with these drugs to improve the results. The cost is around $100-150 per scar and 3-5 treatments may be needed.

The side effects are little, including pain and a darkening of the skin. There is no recovery period. This is one of the safest treatments that you will come across.

2. Microdermabrasion – You may be offered this treatment as a cure for your acne scarring.

It is very different from Dermabrasion and is used for only minor imperfections. Hence the term “Micro”. This treatment will not be worth your time.

3. Subcision – Simply enough, the scar is just cut away and the blood is allowed to flow and clot. The blood can help produce corrective tissue and level the surface of your skin. This treatment can be combined with laser or dermabrasion to improve the results, after the initial treatment.

The cost varies from $50-750 and a few tries after usually needed. This has shown to be effective on only Rolling type scars.

Bruising, raised scars, scar recurrence and discoloration are the risks involved with this treatment. As with most cuts, it will take about 2 weeks to heal.

4. CryoSurgery – For between 10 seconds to 2 minutes, liquid nitrogen is placed on the scar. This is often used along with steroids for improvements.

This will only work on Hypertrophic scarring. The idea is that the scar will be frozen, get damaged and die.

It will fall off and level off the whole area of skin. Cost can be $75-150 per scar. 2-10 sessions are often called for.

A listening of the skin, pain, blistering, skin atrophy, swelling, a darkening of the skin and, rarely, bleeding or fainting are all side effects associated with CryoSurgery. Healing time is usually 3 weeks.

5. Dermabrasion – The skin surface is removed with either a diamond or wire wheel or brush and reduces the appearance of deeper scars.

The quality will highly depend on the mastery of the person doing the procedure on you. Be sure to find someone excellent. This has been proven to work on all types of scars, excluding Hypertrophic.

Cost is $1500 per treatment.

Many can be required. The side effects are many and the recovery period can be up to 9 months. Carefully weigh the costs with the benefits Dermabrasion.

Choose wisely when it comes to your skin. It is the only skin you will ever have.

The child comes home from his first day at school. Mother asks, "What did you learn today?"
