Editor’s Note by Helene Malmsio

I'm going to take a bit of a leap in assuming you have at least some interest in developing an extra income stream or two... and that maybe crafting an online enterprise, maybe with digital products to sell, would be something on your To Do list.

Digital products and digital information products / reports / ebooks / kindles etc are a limitless arena to grow your skills in.

One of my first very profitable online endeavours was creating Squidoo Lenses to flip to new owners. This web2 platform is long gone now, sadly.

Mostly online web platforms created for online marketers who wanted backlinks to their sites, and some people wanting affiliate income from Amazon and ClickBank etc.

Then I moved on to deliver SEO services, and then when I tired of doing that, I began to release my own range of Private Label Rights articles and content products for bloggers to use on their sites.

I enjoyed that, made good money, and decided to publish enough stock to open my own PLR store, which is still operating and I have another couple of hundred article packs to still load up to it for sale *whew*.

But more recently I've been publishing Kindle books and paperback books to sell on all the online platforms as well as traditional bookstores. And as you are aware, I'm in love with creating paperback journals, planners, diaries etc nowadays.

And it all began with wanting to create digital products to sell online. They are simple because you don't handle and ship an actual product, like in a traditional retail store.

The sale and delivery is automated, and you just receive a sale notification along with (usually) a Paypal receipt notification. NICE!

The first thing I can recommend is that you RELAX and just EXPERIMENT with your first products. Don't be too serious and try to create "War and Peace" in your first product.

Just experiment with say, 5 different short and simple products (much like this report and the other self help reports you read each week *hint*).

Then when you are happy with a couple of them, release them on JVZoo, or ClickBank, or Warrior Forum, or publish direct to Amazon Kindle or CreateSpace publications.

Don't sweat the small stuff... this is an experiment! You can't lose... you can only learn and improve from each one.

You will learn as you go. Outsource the stuff you just can't do at the start, and keep learning bit by bit.

Have fun, relax, enjoy the process or don't do it at all, because once you start and get some profitable sales, you will be doing a lot more of it.

O.K. Lets begin with this weeks Power Tips report for you... ENJOY!

"Creating Your First Info Product"

One of the best income streams you can develop online is your own digital information products. If this concept intimidates you, it shouldn’t. All it boils down to is organizing and sharing information and advice.

Don’t let your fear prevent you from being a content developer. You aren’t required to have certain credentials, a publisher or agent. This is just you passing along quality information to your reader.

Why do people buy digital info products over print books? There are a number of reasons – convenience, prominence in the marketplace (when they search for a certain keyword phrase on the internet, your product comes up in the search results), and the fact that most consumers buy a variety of books and courses when there’s a topic they want to know – they usually don’t just buy one.

Go ahead and go through the process at least once. It’s not nearly as scary as you might think, and it will create a certain amount of authority for you as you begin to earn an online income.

Pick a Niche That You’re Passionate About

If you’re not passionate about helping your readers, it will be obvious in your writing. You want to have a connection to the niche you’re in.

Even if you’re not directly involved, you should have enthusiasm for being there to assist others with the solutions they need.

Remember that when you launch an info product, it contributes to your status as a niche leader. People will want to turn to you in the future. Ask yourself if you’re ready to be in this niche long-term.

Can you wake up every day and immerse yourself in this niche? Sometimes there are topics that you might not want to stay in day after day. For example, maybe you discover there’s a need for information for families going through hospice care.

You can either approach this as something that fulfills you because you are helping people who are in need – or it can be depressing for you to think, write and talk about the subject on a regular basis.

When you’re first thinking about niches, don’t just jump on one because you have experience with it. Choose one you can see yourself being in well in the future, because if the first info product goes over well, you can create an entire empire of eBooks and online courses for sale to your target audience.

Find a Slant That Sets You Apart

You don’t want to do a typical info product that has already flooded with marketplace with no new information. You want to be seen as cutting edge – someone who has an ear to the ground about the niche and can bring new revelations.

Google Alerts come in handy when you’re in the research phase of creating an information product. This is an alert that goes straight to your email’s inbox, telling you when there’s new content on the web about it.

So for instance, if you were writing a diabetes report, you could set up an alert for “diabetes study” – so that you would get all of the breaking news coming out of research labs about this disease.

Tune into the media on a regular basis. News, magazines, and online websites are always covering the latest information in health, finances, relationships, pets – you name it. Just about every niche gets discussed in the media.

Forums will give you a wealth of information. These are the online hubs that your target audience is going to in order to find the information they need from other people experiencing the same thing.

Dig into the forums and really look for unique tips and suggestions and issues people have with this broad topic. You might find excellent “drilled down” ideas that let you create a more specialized info product.

Spy on other blog comments. Just like forums, if you can find a blog where the audience is actively engaged, then you’ll have a wealth of information at your fingertips.

Interact with your own audience. Ask questions and listen to your readers’ concerns. These are the people who will be buying your info product, so it’s their needs that you want to meet anyway.

Find a typical topic in your niche and brainstorm ways you can tweak it for a unique slant. For example, let’s say you are considering the Survivalist niche (which is rising thanks in part to many popular TV shows).

You could look up the latest health news to see what virus is building toward pandemic potential (currently, it’s MERS) and then pen a trend-based ecourse that will be one of a few courses specifically dealing with surviving this particular pandemic.

Or let’s say you wanted to get into the health niche – maybe anti aging or longevity. Go to the news and look for information. Here’s an article about how older working women have improved health over those who retire: women-may-be-healthier-as-result/.

Your book could be based on this entire concept – maybe with a “work at home” slant so that you’re promoting the best of both worlds – no longer working for someone else, but still earning a living and being productive!

Create an Outline That Helps With the Creation Process

An outline can be a lifesaver when it comes to creating your first info product. It helps you stay on topic, which is important because many of the courses on the market veer off course and ramble – which is when the seller loses his or her audience.

You can use some of the same methods in creating your outline that you do in getting your initial idea. Here is a good formula for creating a viable outline for your new info product:

Step 1: Write off the top of your head.

There are many common sense things you’ll want to put into your info product. Even if you assume everyone already knows something, make sure it’s in the product anyway – because you want it to be thorough and enjoyable for even the most novice audience.

So for example, using our pandemic idea, you might make a list like this:

• What Is MERS?
• How Is MERS Transferred Among Living Things?
• Is There an Immunization for It?
• How Do You Treat MERS?

Step 2: Use a keyword tool to add to your list.

Go to a site like and start playing around with keywords like MERS, pandemic, pandemic preparedness, etc. Doing this, we can add the following topics:

• Creating a MERS Preparedness Kit
• Watch Out for These MERS Virus Symptoms

Step 3: Dig into the research methods previously discussed.

Using a combination of forums, news media and other online sites, we can tack on even more to our outline, like this:

• How MERS Compares to the SARS Virus
• Five Places to Avoid When the MERS Virus Reaches Pandemic Levels
• Preparing Your Family for a MERS Outbreak

Step 4: Organize your outline.

In this step, you’re basically putting everything in logical order. For example, you’re not going to put “What Is MERS” at the end – because that’s something people need to know right at beginning.

Sometimes it won’t matter which order the outline is in. For instance, it doesn’t matter if you tell them how to create a preparedness kit first or if you tell them how to prepare their family first.

Just make sure that you recognize any issues that do need to be in a logical order and arrange those accordingly. From there, you can drill down even further and outline each chapter if you feel it will help you complete your first info product faster and easier.

Develop Conversational Content That Empowers the Reader

If you’re not a professional writer, then creating an information product might be extremely intimidating to you. But it shouldn’t be. First of all, info products aren’t pigeonholed to text status only.

You can create a wide variety of info products – including audio and video media formats, too. Sometimes, you may want to include multiple formats in your info product, like a main PDF with accompanying videos, for example.

Keep in mind that your readers are not hoping for a scholarly book that a college professor might want to read. Most consumers have an 8th grade reading level, so you want to keep it simple and easy to digest.

Be conversational in your writing style. Like a friend writing to a friend – just like this. Don’t use large words when a short, common will do. Don’t get overly excited about breaking some grammar rules if you feel like it.

Just make it enjoyable for your audience. Don’t deliver a mess of grammatical disasters or a document filled to the brim with spelling errors and typos. Clean it up and make sure you’d be proud to send it to someone you were trying to impress!

Get Your Product Ready for Sale

Many newcomers to info product development are so focused on the actual research and product creation phase that they forget there’s more to the entire process way beyond those two elements.

You should create bonus items to accompany your product. Think of relevant things that the reader would also like. For example, with the pandemic course, you might offer one or two other survival guides, such as:

• Food Preparation for Emergency Circumstances
• Sustainable Living for Less Reliance on Your Community

Both of these would help someone in the event there’s a pandemic, when they’ll want to stay home and not venture out to public places like a grocery store or Farmer’s Market.

Some marketers like to have a good upsell or one time offer, too.

An upsell is adding on something of higher value to the package. A one time offer is when you give them just one chance to grab something else, and don’t offer it later.

Have professional graphics created for your product, whether you’re going with a Kindle launch or putting your info product on your own minisite.

A graphics artist can create a matching header, footer, background, ecover, testimonial box, and order button for your site.

A Kindle graphic might just be a simple ecover, but it’s still important. You have to work with someone who understands how to make the most of a thumbnail image.

Your product creations steps will also include things like creating sales copy, setting up an affiliate program, finding joint venture partners, and actively promoting your product in the following days.

The process isn’t something you do overnight. You do it in increments.

Once you get through it the first time, you’ll find it much easier the next time you do it. Don’t be afraid to make a few mistakes along the way. With an info product, everything can be tweaked as you go!

You’ll also discover (as you implement your plan), which parts you enjoy doing and which you wish you could outsource to a freelancer. This is something that will help you on all future launches!

Healthy Power Tip:

Skin Health

You’ve heard it before, but put on that sunscreen before heading out on any sunny day.

A hat not only protects your face, it also protects your scalp. Scalps are susceptible to cancers and other skin issues, so cover up.

Oolong tea has been shown to relieve symptoms of mild eczema, so grab a cup today.

Easy natural skin care: Cover up, don’t smoke, eat well, drink water, avoid stress and get lots of rest.

Love that “healthy” glow from a suntan? Try a self-tanning lotion or treat yourself to spray tan instead.

Licking your chapped lips does not provide moisture. Try using a lip balm or Vaseline to protect your skin’s moisture.

Tanning beds are not a healthier alternative to tanning in the sun. Tanning beds emit UV rays that can cause cancer.

Top foods for healthy skin: vegetables, fish nuts and don’t forget plenty of water.

Diet can contribute to acne, but it might not be how you think. Dairy and carbohydrate-rich foods can cause acne.

If you suffer from acne, you may want to avoid certain cosmetics, hair care products, moisturizers and sunscreens.

Water is great for your skin. It can help keep it hydrated and reduce problems with acne.

Prevent athlete’s foot by fully drying your feet and toes after bathing or swimming; wear socks; and try an anti-fungal powder.

Two new article packs have been loaded for sale this week, on the topic of working at home, and work at home moms.

"From Welfare To The Sunday Times Rich List – Why You Just Have To Keep Going With Your Business & Marketing"

JK Rowling, the publisher of the universally adored Harry Potter books is a prime example of someone who just refused to fail.

She now stands as one of the most famous authors in the world today, and according to The Sunday Times Rich List, her success has amassed her a wealth just shy of a billion dollars.

Yet, before her success with Harry Potter she was in the grips of poverty – a single mom, struggling through depression and depending on the welfare state just to survive. My how its all turned, and good on her.

Sometimes, no matter who you are and what you’re trying to achieve – you need to stick at it. Keep going. And this is especially true of those who are trying to set up an internet business. At times, it can be thankless.

As you grapple with a hundred issues like site development and SEO. As you try and desperately cling on to the coat tails of technologies that appear to be changing at light speeds. As you see competitors who seem to be outmuscling you at every turn.

At times, you will feel like throwing in the towel. Don’t. Every single person who’s ever attained success. Wealth. Power – they’ve all been in that same situation

. JK Rowlings book, for example, was rejected by 12 publishers before a small and relatively obscure publishing house by the name of Bloomsburry agreed to put it in print.

If you’re in that same situation – that gut wrenching, agonizing situation of working long hard days on your business and apparently seeing no rewards whatsoever, then think about these things before you even think about throwing in the towel.

- The More You Learn, The More You Will Ultimately Earn – Knowledge is power. There is a seemingly endless library of concepts, techniques and processes to command as an internet business owner.

And, as you tick these off one by one - you’ll get ever nearer to your goal of making a real, sustainable and dare I say it even enviable income with your business.

- The Branding Enigma - What so many newbies don’t quite get when they first try their hand at setting up an internet business is that it takes TIME to brand a new business. It takes time to achieve visibility.

Those things that you do, that you fear are a waste of time - writing articles, posting in forums, getting into each and every social network site out there, approaching JV partners… they are all part of the branding process. And when you keep at it, in time you’ll be rewarded with success.

- Positivity, Focus & Action – Look, you could say this rings true for any and all aspects of life, but success within online business depends on your ability to stay positive. It depends upon your determination to focus on the task at hand. To go from A to B to C to D. In that order, until you get to Z.

- Create A Plan – Who hasn’t heard of that famous dictum, “If you fail to plan, you plan to fail”.

The truth is, if you aimed a dart at any newbie trying to set up an internet business, 9 times out of 10 you would hit someone who hasn’t even the slightest whiff of a plan. A lot of people are just out there – drifting aimlessly. Trying one thing randomly for a few days, seeing no results, giving up and moving on to the next.

It’s a surefire recipe for failure. You have to create some semblance of a plan, and see it to fruition. And have patience – because success often, if not always demands it.

Just think - what if JK Rowling decided to quit the first time she got rejected by a publisher? Or the second? Or even the third? I suspect she would struggle to even be able to afford a copy of the Sunday Times, let alone be featured in its rich list section as one of the most successful and celebrated authors of our time.

What's New?

oooshhh... This week was another big one. Trying to get some small jobs done around the house, and I'm finding it horribly expensive to get even the most simple tasks done, like fitting a bathroom cabinet to a wall, a 10 minute job, is over a hundred dollars. I'm in the wrong business, maybe - LOL!

I'm pleased that I've started tweaking the website again, so that one day *sigh* I'll get the site totally overhauled and looking brilliant. Its a bit tricky because I have about 4 mini-sites for different aspects of my business all incorporated on the one site, and I need to split them up and isolate them to stop confusion when people visit my mega self help site, looking for a book or a PLR pack.

Bit by bit I'll get there... so don't be surprised if you see a change in colour schemes on the site, and slowly start seeing header banners at the top of each guide / business section.

Well, this week I stuck to my schedule and spent time loading more PLR article packs - go me! This batch is in the very lucrative WAH and WAHM niche, so if you have a blog teaching how to work at home you should check them out here:

IM Work at Home Jobs #1 PLR Articles Pack x 5

IM Work at Home Jobs #2 PLR Articles Pack x 5

And for my book publishing I focused on a fundraising set of calendar monthly planners to help Nami Kim and to fight the dog meat trade in South Korea. Its an incredibly cruel business, and millions of dogs every year suffer prolonged torture and die horrendous deaths at the slaughter block, to become someone's meal.

Government changes only come about with public pressure and this requires greater education of the public about the practices of this cruel trade, to contradict the cultural beliefs and old traditions in this trade, and that requires money and every one of us sharing the facts far and wide.

If you are interested in helping Nami in this cause, and getting a lovely monthly planner in the deal, please check them out here... home delivered by amazon, for yourself or as a gift.

And I've also this week been working on creating a series of Club Organizers, beginning with one for my local community Social Club.

These will hopefully find a market for all those Clubs everywhere, gardening, social, collector, cat & dog etc. I'll let you know how I go.

once again, thank you so very, very much to everyone who has invested in one of my books... I really appreciate your trust, and know that you will love the book!

And p.s. Any reviews posted on Amazon would be hugely appreciated as well!!

And get yourself a beautiful and inspiring Diary or Planner. Yes, like one of the ones I have designed for you. They work. They make you happy. Use them.

Click on the banner images above to see the full range, as I keep adding new designs every few days... and if you have the time, please do tell me what you would like to see included, so that I can meet your requirements!

With a bit of luck and extra elbow grease, I also hope to have some more Note Books loaded up for sale by the time this edition goes out, so if you love getting personalized notebooks with unusual cover designs, do check my portfolio out!

And a reminder: "Power Tips" is here to help you learn and apply new self growth strategies. Are you getting benefit from these self growth reports? Most importantly: Will you USE what you are learning?
