Enjoy More Productive Workdays With These Strategies


Some of us get a lot more done at work than others. If you're one of those people that never accomplishes as much as you should, you need some new strategies.

Being productive is about preparation and good habits.

Be the most productive person in your company with these strategies:

1. A productive workday starts the day before.

Take 10 minutes before you leave work to create a preliminary plan for the following day. Do this while the day is still fresh in your mind.

Consider those tasks that you failed to complete and what is most important to address tomorrow.

You can think about it some more on the drive home. When you get home, alter your plan accordingly.

Before you go to bed, finalize your plan for tomorrow and make a concrete list of tasks to follow.

Choose your clothes for the following day and ensure you have gas in the car.

2. Avoid multitasking.

Studies show that you can accomplish more by focusing on a single task, rather than switching back and forth between two or more.

Use this information to your advantage. You'll get more done with less stress.

3. Have a morning routine that gets you primed for work.

This includes things like your wakeup time, morning grooming routine, and breakfast.

You might want to glance at your to-do list, too. Some exercise is also a good idea.

Create your routine with an emphasis on getting yourself physically and mentally ready for work.

4. Hit the ground running.

Rather than easing into your day, get started on the items on your list ASAP.

If you're ahead of schedule, you can relax later in the day. A good morning ensures that you'll have a productive day.

Avoid the temptation to chat around the coffee pot. Grab your coffee, shut the door, and get to work!

5. Eliminate distractions.

You already know how you distract yourself at work. Make the necessary adjustments.

If people are interrupting you, politely ask them what they need and then inform them you have a lot of work to do.

6. Get help.

If you have anyone available that can lighten your load, ask them for assistance. If you have employees, ensure that you're giving them enough work to keep them busy.

One thing that will allow you to accomplish more is making the most of your resources. That includes the people around you.

7. Keep meetings to a minimum.

Schedule as few meetings as possible and keep them short. Most meetings are too long and ineffective.

No one likes them, and they ruin everyone's momentum. You'll be a hero if you become known for short and infrequent meetings.

8. Take regular breaks.

No one accomplishes more by never taking a break. Regular breaks are necessary for your mind and body.

At least once each hour, get up and walk around for five to 10 minutes. Say 'hi' to a colleague and then get back to work.

These short breaks will allow you to get more done over the course of the day. You'll still feel fresh in the afternoon, too.

You can increase your productivity dramatically by adopting a few new habits and preparing the night before.

You can be the most productive person in your company.

Feel Great by Getting Organized and Energized



Few things are as emotionally draining as living a life that's out of control.

We become accustomed to living this way and fail to realize there's a better way. With a few simple tips, you can gain control over your life and your sanity.

Some of us have a natural knack for keeping our lives neat and tidy. For others, it can be a real struggle.

Enhancing your organizational skills might not sound like a lot fun, especially for those that are least organized.

However, the payoff for organizing your life can be huge. Give it a try and see for yourself.

Use these tips to gain energy and peace of mind by becoming more organized:

1. Tidy the spaces you use the most.

The spaces you use the most, often the kitchen area and office, tend to accumulate the most clutter. This clutter drains your energy and weighs on your mind.

It's frustrating to constantly have things in your way. This is a great first step to getting organized and boosting your mood.

2. Make lists.

You might be great at keeping track of things in your head, but it comes at a price. The things you have to remember take part of your attention and mental resources.

It's much easier and more effective to simply write down the things you need to do.

As long as you remember to check your list, you can never forget anything. It's much easier to do that than to remember multiple things.

You'll be surprised by how much more energy you have by using the power of a good list.

3. Sell, recycle, or donate the things you don't need or want.

Most of us have way too much stuff. Get organized by getting the irrelevant things out of your life.

Get rid of all the things that no longer provide enough value to your life to justify keeping them around. You'll feel more energized and relaxed when you're done.

4. Make a habit of getting rid of two things each time you bring one new thing into the house.

This not only avoids the buildup of stuff in your house, but you're also making progress.

If you can't think of two things to get rid of, you've either done really well in paring down your possessions, or you don't really want that new item. Either way is a win.

5. Take regular breaks.

When you have a lot to accomplish, regular breaks will keep you energized. You'll actually accomplish more if you take regular breaks.

Ten minutes each hour is about right for most people. Experiment and see what works for you.

Some people do better with shorter, more frequent breaks. Others thrive on longer breaks. Just avoid having long, frequent breaks!

6. Focus on the three most important tasks you have each day.

Long lists are intimidating and soul crushing. So, make two lists. Have a long list of everything that needs to be done.

Then, create a second list that only contains the three most important items.

If you can get those three things done, you'll find that you had a pretty good day. You can tackle the longer list with whatever time you have left.

Most people feel a need to be more organized. Create a set of organizational rules for your life and follow them as consistently as you can.

When you get more organized, you'll find that you accomplish more and have more free time available for the things that you want to do.
