How to Change Your Negative Thinking About Exercise

What do you feel when you think about going to the gym? Do you feel invigorated and inspired, or do you dread it with that sinking feeling in your stomach?

We all know that negative thinking about being in the gym is guaranteed to demotivate you, and no matter how much you paid for that membership, you will soon let it lapse if your motivation lapses.

A lot of people think of exercise like it's a four letter word, and not a nice one either.

They hate the thought of it, hate the thought of even trying it, much less doing it.

Does that sound like you? There are several reasons people feel this way.

See if any of these match your thoughts and then follow the suggestions to overcome these negative thoughts so you can get out there and get in shape.

I don't like being sore.

In the beginning, some soreness is expected, but it can be reduced by going about the right way.

Instead of jumping in to an exercise routine like you're on fire, take the time to gradually build up your endurance.

Start slow and don't over do it.

If you haven't exercised in awhile, you can't expect to jump in and be at the same level as long time exercisers.

Also remember that some people start enjoying a little bit of soreness.

They know they've pushed their body, just a little past their comfort zone and expect to feel sore for a day or two.

However, you don't want to feel pain or major soreness.

If you feel either of those then you are trying to do too much.

I don't have time.

This is a valid reason, but the truth is most people don't have time.

What they do have is the same 24 hours in a day as you do and they make the time to take care of themselves.

Had you rather spend 30 minutes a day getting yourself in shape or end up laying in a hospital bed for weeks (or even months) because you didn't take care of your health. Which do you have more time for?

Make exercise and taking care of yourself a priority.

Cut out some TV time if you have too. Your body and your health will thank you for it.

It's a well known fact that spending too much time in front of the TV is bad for your health.

Take some time to get up and get moving.

You can either record your favorite shows or make the decision that your health is more important and give them up completely.

Exercise is boring.

Most people will agree that it can be.

Even people who go to the gym each day go through periods of boredom.

They do it for their health, not to have the time of their life.

You can make it more fun though. Do activities that you enjoy and mix them up on a regular basis.

If you walked for 30 minutes yesterday, why not ride your bike for half an hour today?

If the weather doesn't allow you to get outside for your workout, pop in a fitness DVD and workout in your living room.

Get some videos on the latest new dance moves.

Many people are getting in shape and learning to dance at the same time.

If you love going to the night club on the weekend, this is the perfect way for you to get in shape.

Exercise can be fun and it can be something you enjoy doing, but you have to stop thinking about all the reasons you dislike you and discover reasons you do like it.

You will feel better, have more energy, lose weight and it will help you avoid some major health issues.

Start now by changing these negative thoughts into positive ones.

I recently discovered this site and I can tell you that my life has not been the same. I now come here EVERYDAY and spend at least 1 hour.

I used to spend that time browsing online fashion and beauty magazine which just means that I spend more. Now I have replaced that habit with coming here.

In future I will think about contributing articles as well. Thank you! Thank you!! Thank you!!! and God bless"
