Try Using MyFitnessPal To Monitor Your Portions

I've just begun using an online service recommended by my friend Tiffany, and I love it.

My Fitness Pal offers a free service which is what I've started on right now, but there is probably an upsell somewhere, I just haven't come across it yet.

It is so convenient to plan out your meals for every day, because it has links to all the top Brand products, as well as calculations for home made versions of your meals.

You select your foods, and it automatically adds up the fats, carbs, proteins etc and you can select to see the total energy value in kilojules or carbs.

I've elected to record my meals in calories as that is what I was using when I last counted any - lol!

Its been like 30 years since they started using kilojules in Australia, but it blew my mind so badly to go from a food item being 100 calories to suddenly being 1,500 million gazillion in kilojules - that I stopped counting... it was just too depressing - lol!

Anyway, I'm well in control of portion sizes, and pretty good with WHAT I'm eating... considering I'm on my cold weather Winter Comfort Food menu... so I just need to get my head around how many calories I'm actually consuming in my normal eating.

So I'm not modifying anything, just recording it so that I have a food log, and to be able to see if I'm kidding myself about the amount of energy I'm consuming, or if I'm pretty much doing what I thought I was doing.

So, time will tell.

I'm very pleased with it so far... and once I get used to going online to log my foods I'll be on a roll.

Oh, and it also keeps tabs of your log, so you can pick the quick choice items from what you already have as staples on your daily menu which makes it a much faster thing to do every day..

You can also keep track of your water intake and your exercise, and at the end of the day it projects what your weight will be if you stay on this meal plan... very motivational.

So far I love it!!
