Turn Your Trash into a Beautiful Wooden Planter

You can turn your trash into beautiful works of art and a lovely wooden planter. It’s amazing how a simple wooden planter makes a lonely corner look full and elegant. The funny thing is you can take a few broken wooden items and make a interesting place for your plants and flowers.

A wooden planter doesn’t have to be an expensive planter you get at a store. Nope, it can be something you may already have laying around. You can take just about anything you can find that is made out of wood and use it as a planter, that includes wooden shoes, mailboxes, birdhouses, etc. Get out that old picnic basket you stopped using a few years back and stored in the garage. Remember, that top or side that broke, it can now be used as a wooden planter.

First, take a bit of mixture and rocks and layer the bottom. . Chances are with a wooden basket there will be plenty of drainage. Place your plant or bury your seeds at this point, slowly wrapping soil around the base of your plant. Sprinkle over it with some water and watch it grow. Ivy and other vine like plants will look great coming from this.

You can take an old, broken down, wheelbarrow and turn it into something beautiful. First, make even take a wheelbarrow and toss in a few small flower pots and make your own gardening seen in this wooden planter. Try placing a few store bought marigolds, pansies and a few others inside the wagon and watch them take off. This would be a lovely addition to your front yard, place it by your garden or in the center of the yard. Check on this from time to time to make sure that the wood hasn’t rotted.

Now that you are getting a bit more creative, lets go a step further. You make your own wooden planter. Yes, you can do it. Get some wood scraps you already have in your shed and start designing it. In gardening, nothing has to be perfect unless you want it, it’s all a matter of taste. Gardening is art and you are the artist. Make sure there proper drainage, cracks between the wood or drilled holes at the bottom will work.

If you live close to a bunch of trees you may have come across a log or two. Hollow the inside of a log out and use this as a planter. It’ll add a bit the natural beauty of the woods into your own yard. Remember to sand down any rough edges your wooden planter may have, be careful not to get a splinter doing it though.

Look around your yard and see if you have any trash you can turn into a wooden planter. You just might clean that yard up after all. Recycling can be fun and now you’ll be showing your children just how much fun.
