Ticket To Ride

This is a fun game for kids - especially if you have a family game night. One of the many great things about this game is that you never play the same game twice because a player can change the path he takes by how he plays the game.

The game is based on the book Around the World in 80 Days. In the book, Phileas Fogg bets he can make it around the globe within 80 days.

The story focuses on his adventures during his travels.

His accomplishments were no easy feat, considering the time of the story was set in the 1800s - when various methods of travel were fraught with difficulties.

In the toy board game, each person gets to have an adventure as well.

The players must try to navigate from city to city using the trains they're given at the beginning of play.

During play, participants can draw cards, claim a route or take a destination card.

The length of time that the game takes to complete is between half an hour to an hour and it is a fast paced game.

The players each compete to connect to the cities in order to win the offered $1 million dollar prize to whoever finishes first.

The game can be played by as many as five players at once - so it's great as a family get together game.

Though the average age for the game is between 8 and 12 years old, adults also love the game.

The board of the game has different colors across it. Each of these colors can be used by the train cars.

Each player is dealt a specific amount of trains - and he can claim the routes using the colors he has.

During play, you must get the railway route cards so that you can line your train cars up on the colored routes.

You can play strategically for the win by making sure that you force the other players to re-route.

The players that take the longer routes end up gaining more points than their opponents.

The object of the game is to be the player that has a continuous railway.

The best way to accomplish this is to be the player whose trains link the longest distances between two cities.

The gray routes can be used by players regardless of their train color.

As the game is played, each player has to make choices that can affect his or her long term success.

You get to choose whether to go ahead and take a route or pick a card - and both ways can give you options to win or lose.

The game comes with a game board featuring railways across the United States. There are 225 trains and 144 game play cards.

Scoring markers in the colors of the trains are also included. The rules are short and easy to follow.
