Halloween Themed Party Food You Can Make With Your Children

When you are planning your Halloween themed party for children you can ease the workload and keep your own kids amused at the same time by getting them to help you in preparing the party foods for guests.

This can be a lovely way to spend the afternoon and at the end you will have a selection of treats that everyone can enjoy.

Here are just a few examples of the type of food you could get your children to make.

Make a Batch of Severed Finger Sandwiches

Instead of just serving up a plate of sandwiches, you can totally transform them into scary looking fingers. All you have to do is to make sure that you use white bread and have a selection of fillings that can go inside.

Each child can decide on the type of filling that they would like for their sandwiches and you can either let them cut them into finger sized portions or if they are a little too young to handle a knife, you can assist them with this.

The final part is to create the fingertips. This can be achieved by simply taking a pastry brush and painting the ends in red.

You can use food colouring to get the right shade or you can use strawberry or cherry jam to get the same affect, depending on whether the sandwich filling is sweet or savoury.

Make a Batch of Cookies Shaped Like Witches, Bats and Ghostly Ghouls

Children love cookies and you can either decide to make these from scratch, getting the gang involved in the whole process of mixing together all the raw ingredients or you can cheat and buy the pre-made stuff.

Once you have got the raw dough ready you can roll it out on your kitchen surface and get the children to help you cut out the different shapes.

All you need to create cookies shaped like witches, bats or ghosts is to buy the appropriately shaped cookie cutter. These can be easily purchased from your local department store or online.

After the shapes have been cut out and placed on a baking tray, you can then put them in the oven to bake.

Once the batch has cooled down, you can get the children to colour in their cookies using food colouring or piped icing.

This can be a very fun and extremely messy activity but the end result will be that your children have been thoroughly engaged in an activity where they get to enjoy the fruits of their labour.

If you are looking for something that will keep your children busy during Halloween then spending the afternoon cooking is a wonderful way to enjoy this festive season.
